Meet Mary Dirksen

I was born and raised in the small coastal town of Gold Beach, where I learned early that real leadership isn’t about titles. It’s about showing up where the need is. That belief has guided me throughout my 23 years in public service and continues to fuel my decision to run for State Representative for House District 37.

After earning dual bachelor’s degrees in Human Resources Management and General Management from Portland State University, I devoted my career to serving Oregonians, most recently as a Senior Policy Analyst. I’ve seen firsthand how good policy can lift communities up, and how bad policy can leave families behind. I’m running because Oregon needs leaders who listen deeply, lead with integrity, and put people—not politics—first.

My Service and Leadership

My work extends far beyond my professional career. My leadership is shaped by hands-on involvement in organizations and issues that directly impact the lives of Oregonians, including:

Boards & Committees I Serve On

  • Tualatin Budget Committee

  • State advisory panels combating human trafficking

  • National advisory panels addressing human trafficking

  • A board supporting foster youth

  • Homeowners Association Board

Community and Volunteer Service

  • 15 years mentoring women at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility

  • Certified Master Gardener

  • Faith-based and international service, including the Cambodia mission trip where I met my husband

I’ve walked alongside women rebuilding their lives after incarceration. I’ve worked to combat human trafficking at both the state and national level. And I’ve worked in the soil as a Master Gardener, because I believe that cultivating growth, whether in people, communities, or gardens—is the heart of true leadership.
